What Destinations Are On Your Bucket List?

Do you ever feel like there isn’t enough time to visit every destination you want to see?  For those of us with limited vacation time, it can be so hard to choose! If you’re planning your next trip and need some inspiration, here are 5 destinations that are currently at the top of our bucket list.

South Africa

From the mountains and beaches surrounding Cape Town to wildlife safaris, South Africa is a beautiful destination with a little bit of everything. It takes 22+ hours to get there from Chicago, but we think it would be worth it.

Mexico

I shouldn’t have to say much more than tacos to convince you that Mexico is a worthy destination. But if you need more than that consider the Mayan ruins, tequila, beaches, friendly people, and museums to start with. And don’t forget that it’s cheap! I’d love to spend a few months slowly traveling through the country to learn Spanish and explore the culture.

What Destinations Are On Your Bucket List?

Russia

Our friend Nori recently moved to Russia and shared some of her favorite things to do in Moscow. Russia is steeped in history, culture, and architecture, but due to it’s communist history and tense relations with the Unites States, it’s not at the top of most American bucket lists.  Though as Nori pointed out, most Russians are friendly towards Americans, and we think it would be a fascinating place to explore.

Western United States

In addition to so many international destinations, there is so much in my own back yard that I haven’t seen yet! I would love to take a road trip from the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone National Park and maybe all the way up to Banff National Park in Southwestern Canada. There are so many incredible parks to explore!

Morocco

Everything from the food to the colorful pottery to the beautiful tiled architecture has always made Morocco feel like such an exotic destination to me. Explore the cities, relax at the beach, hike, or ride a camel through the Sahara. There’s so much to explore in this diverse country.

So tell us, what destination is at the top of your bucket list and why?

  1. Great ideas! I’m definitely eager for a trip to South Africa as well- we have a friend that lives in Mozambique so we could kill two birds with one stone. I have been to the Grand Canyon and to Banff National Park and they are both breathtaking…that said, I haven’t explored at all in between the two, so I’m eager to get to some of the Utah NP’s like Zion.

    1. It makes trip so fun when you know someone that lives in your destination! They make great local tour guides. 😉

  2. My bucket list is probably longer than I can ever accomplish and right now it centers around kid friendly destinations but I love the idea of always planning another trip….even if it’s years away. The National Parks out west are at the top of my list as I daydream about touring the US in a Airstream for a year.

    1. I think it would be so fun to tour the National Parks with kids! What a great experience for them and bonding time for the family.

  3. I’m impressed that you are able to narrow it down to five! My list goes on forever: http://intrepidviajera.com/2016/10/where-to-next/

    1. I certainly wouldn’t say this is the whole list. 🙂
